Diabetic Retinal Screening

As part of our commitment to provide you with the very highest standard of eye care we include retinal imaging as standard in our NHS diabetic screening appointments.

A state of the art Digital retinal camera is used to capture photographic images of the back of your eyes. This technique is one of the most accurate and advanced ways of screening for many different eye diseases as it allows us to inspect the retina in far more detail compared to conventional methods which were previously relied on.

The optometrist takes time to show and explain the images taken of the back of your eyes to you as we feel this will give you a better understanding of the health of your eyes.

The images taken are stored and can be recalled, therefore enabling the optometrist to compare these from one visit to the next, allowing even the most subtle changes to be detected aiding in early diagnosis.
